Interesting Zipper Tab!

"Closure"....we all have many openings, and many Closures! Each one a little different.  Some of our relationships last longer than others. Some were cut off short. Some have threads hanging loose yet. Some are rusty. Some are definitely vintage - that may be good or not so good. All depends.



The Story:
The cotton fabric for the quilt front and back is repurposed table napkins. The zippers and buttons are vintage and previously used. They look like the buttons my mother snipped off garments that had seen their best days & kept in her button jar until further notice. Zippers she saved from trousers, shirts and dresses and kept in a drawer of her Singer treadle sewing machine. I still remember how the drawers smelled. Often the threads were still hanging from the zippers and buttons. Note the zipper tab on the red zipper in particular! Click on the photos for a close-up view.

Taupe Cathedral Windows wall art

This is one of those wallhangings that was not preplanned . It began with using a linen dress for the frames. Then the frames sat in a drawer for probably a year, or maybe even more. I kept loving on em....something about the sagey-grey colors feels restful to me. A few months ago I did buy several fat quarters that I thought might be suitable for insets, borders, etc.  And last week I began working on completing the piece. Scrounged around in my bias binding drawer yesterday & latched onto the navy and taupe stripe binding. The second photo of the quilt looks wonky...photography is so not my forte!

ShuBoxFabrix Series Cathedral Windows Wall Quilt

Here's another little quilt from the ShuBoxFabrix Series, my new line of quilts. (The ShuBoxFabrix copyright belongs to me.) I made one earlier this week, but I'm not ready to add the pic here, yet. I've decided to do a little more work first on it. " "Yesterday was one of those days when I really should have taken my camera along on my morning walk. I saw a family of 7-8 wild hogs; the parents and the half grown brood. I was somewhat concerned because I've heard they can be dangerous, especially the papa. They ran off into the scrub as soon as they spotted me. Whew!

"Obama's Inspiration"

This Cathedral Windows Wall Quilt was inspired by the Obama family on Inauguration Day. Red for Courage and Strength, purple for Inspiration and Wisdom, and the edging is black and white for the ability to see with Clarity.
