let the sunrise break your heart open...

Do not seek the light.
See it.
Do not look for beauty.
Be it.
Do not search for Self.
Know it.
Let the birdsong teach you.
Let the sunrise break your heart open.
Let every breath remind you of sudden miracles.

everything already is infinite...

Sometimes I lie outside on the grass with my two beloved furkids in the daytime. If I allow my vision to soften while gazing at my cat's hair I begin to see tiny, rainbow colored orbs on one strand of hair. And softening my gaze even more I can see there are many many of those orbs. And, clearly, there's movement. Each orb is an entire universe unto itself. I imagine what, if any, kind of beings live there? ~Sarah

identification in Belovedness...

“While the impostor draws his identity from past achievements and the adulation of others, the true self claims identity in its belovedness. We encounter God in the ordinariness of life: not in the search for spiritual highs and extraordinary, mystical experiences but in our simple presence in life.”
~ Brennan Manning

my daily affairs are quite ordinary...

"My daily affairs are quite ordinary;
but I’m in total harmony with them.
I don’t hold on to anything, don’t reject anything;
nowhere an obstacle or conflict.
Who cares about wealth and honor?
Even the poorest thing shines.
My miraculous power and spiritual activity:
drawing water and carrying wood."

practically speaking...

the choice for laughter seems like a no-brainer anyway
Wendell Berry's 9 Rules for Consumption:
1. Be happy with what you’ve got. Don’t be always looking for something better.
2. Don’t buy anything you don’t need.
3. Don’t buy what you ought to save. Don’t buy what you ought to make.
4. Unless you absolutely have got to do it, don’t buy anything new.
5. If somebody tries to sell you something to “save labor,” look out. If you can work, then work.
6. If other people want to buy a lot of new stuff and fill up the country with junk, use the junk.
7. Some good things are cheap, even free. Use them first.
8. Keep watch for what nobody wants. Sort through the leavings.
9. You might know, or find out, what it is to need help. So help people.

spirituality is a vital awareness that pervades all realms of our being...

“Sometimes people get the mistaken notion
Brother David Steindl-Rast

that spirituality is a separate department of life,
the penthouse of our existence. But
rightly understood, it is a vital awareness
that pervades all realms of our being."

remaining steady in unbroken Bliss...

Talks with Sri Ramana Maharshi,
Talk 95.
Patchwork Heart Zafu

Q.: What are the obstacles
to remaining steady in unbroken Bliss?
How can they be overcome?
M.: The obstacles are:
(1) Ignorance which is
forgetfulness of one’s pure being.
(2) Doubt which consists
in wondering if even the experience
was of the Real or of the unreal.
(3) Error which consists in
the “I-am-the-body” idea,
and thinking that the world is real.
These are overcome by hearing the truth,
reflection on it and concentration.

in otter news...

River Otter (google images)
Yesterday I saw two river otter playing on a lake bank on my morning walk. (photo - google images)
"Otter--- Living a well-rounded life. Playful, joyful nature, likes games of all sorts, bring laughter wherever they go, letting go of the need to control, surrender to fate. Otter aids the individual in search of joyful expression in life and promotes a harmony between pure play and skillful provision. Native American Totem Animal for "Aquarius"
Sea Otter -- The sea otter brings understanding of our childlike self and asks us to rediscover our playful side. In its wisdom it advises us to nurture our talents and make good use of them. Call upon her for the energies of resourcefulness and inventiveness"

inside you there is a power to make you laugh, to be happy, to fall in love...

Dictionary Page, Anatomy Heart Wall Decor
'Put your hand on your heart,'
the old man said,
'inside you, there is a power,
there are ideas and thoughts,
that no one has ever thought of,
there is the strength to love,
purely and intensely,
and to have someone love you back,
there is the power to make people happy,
and to make people laugh,
and to fall in love,
to change lives and futures.
Don't forget that power,
and don't ever give up on it.'

a day in the life of a genuine wayfarer...

featuring the mala jewelry of
Golden Buddha Mala Beads- 21 Wrist Mala Beads - Buddhist Prayer Beads - Mala Stack - Opal, Pyrite, Sandalwood
"You have obstacles only because you have not realized
 the emptiness of the eons.
Genuine wayfarers are never like this;
they just dissolve their history according to conditions,
dressing according to circumstances, acting when they need to act,
and sitting when they need to sit,
without any idea of seeking the fruits of buddhahood."
