Being and non-being create each other...

"When people see some things as beautiful,
other things become ugly.
When people see some things as good,
other things become bad.
Being and non-being create each other.
Difficult and easy support each other.
Long and short define each other.
High and low depend on each other.
Before and after follow each other.
Therefore the Master
acts without doing anything
and teaches without saying anything.
Things arise and he lets them come;
things disappear and he lets them go.
He has but doesn't possess,
acts but doesn't expect.
When his work is done, he forgets it.
That is why it lasts forever."

at ease...as you (already) were until you weren't

We may find ourselves asking:
“Why am I here? What is life? Who am I?”
Sooner or later any intelligent person asks these questions.
What you are looking for is what you already are, not what you will become.
What you already are is the answer and the source of the question.
In this lies its power of transformation.
It is a present actual fact.
Looking to become something is completely conceptual, merely an idea.
The seeker will discover that he is what he seeks
and that what he seeks is the source of the inquiry.

real power and freedom...

"Never place the key to your happiness in someone else's pocket." ~quote

"When the heart is at peace, for and against are forgotten." ~Zhuang Zhou

"Real freedom is freedom in ones heart,
irrespective of external conditions."
~ N. Sri Ram

"One of the most important things to learn in life is that no one took away our power, or gave us power. We are all powerful energetic beings, already. Personally, I now know that when I erroneously believed someone was taking or withholding energy from me - that thought in itself created a problem for me. Typically, especially when a child or younger person, I either shut down or acted out. Contracted in fear, or expanded with self-righteous indignation and/or even rage. Just knowing this really re-frames pretty much everything."

every morning is a re-birthday...

Yes!!! Every morning is a new day,
and another day in which to release what no longer serves,
and to embrace what is more in alignment with our true nature, Love. Re-birth is merely a remembering of what is already so, and has always been so.

Re-birth is a change of mind only.
Imagine that you have two minds. One is always problematic in one way or another. And one is totally sane. There's a different operating system for us to use, which we had entirely forgotten about.
~)(~
Sitting meditation, or other forms of meditation, can be helpful to us in becoming observers
of the two minds, so we can make the clear choice.

world explodes, but the air is never broken...

"Zen is very simple. Dishwashing time, just wash dishes; sitting time, just sit; driving time, just drive; talking time, just talk. That's all. Not special. But that is very difficult. That is absolutes thinking. When you're doing something, just do it. No opposites...
It's easy to talk about "When you're doing something, just do it," but action is very difficult. Just don't hold. Thinking is OK. Checking is OK. Only holding is a problem. Don't hold. Feeling coming, going, OK. Don't hold. If your mind is not holding anything, it is clear like space. Clear like space means that sometimes clouds come, sometimes rain or lightning or airplane comes, or even a missile blows up, BOOM! World explodes, but the air is never broken. This space is never broken."

ten thousand things rise and fall...

~)(~
"Empty yourself of everything.
Let the mind become still.
The ten thousand things rise and fall
while the Self watches their return.
They grow and flourish
and then Return to the Source.
Returning to the Source is stillness,
which is the Way of Nature."
~ Lao Tsu

simply sit and disengage the mind...

"A way to purify oneself
is through a letting-go process
of simply sitting,
and disengaging the mental mind.
What a wonder!"

our desires and existential restlessness...

"Can you accept your desires graciously? When you sit on the cushion
and see one desire after another and feel how consuming each is—
if you remain on your cushion, then you are graciously accepting them.
It may not feel gracious on the inside. But when the bell rings and the desire
suddenly dissipates, we recognize how little it actually means to us.
Often it was just a temporary distraction from the pain or boredom
that was coming up. Developing a gracious attitude toward our
obsessive desires is what Zen practice is about.
Seeing the nature of desire is the beginning of spiritual liberation."
~Tim Burkett,
Nothing Holy About It: The Zen of Being Just Who You Are

Pascal said, “All of humanity’s problems stem from
man’s inability to sit quietly in a room alone.”

~)(~

noticing “existential restlessness”
Existential restlessness requires us to confront our yearning
to fill the void of waiting on God with all manner of stimulation:
 intellectual insight, relationships, companionship,
or even the lower pleasures of delicious food or an afternoon cappuccino.
The problem, however, is that this wandering attention runs the small self,
the egoic operating system. What is needed is to just sit,
and to face the boredom and the “noon-day demons”
of attachment to thoughts and emotions.
Centering Prayer helps a person to gain enough being present to be nothing.
This is liberation.
