you are the formless, timeless, unborn...

~ Nisargadatta Maharaj~
"The whole world is an ever-changing state. No form is permanent.
All you have to do is see the dream as a dream …
you are the formless, timeless, unborn.
I ask you to stop imagining that you were born,
have parents, are a body, will die and so on."

Nisargadatta was born on 4/17/1897 in Bombay. After his father died, he moved to Bombay to support his family back home, following his elder brother. Initially he worked as a junior clerk at an office but quickly he opened a small goods store, mainly selling beedis – leaf-rolled cigarettes, and soon owned a string of eight retail shops. In 1924 he married, and they had three daughters and a son.

Nisargadatta supported himself, his wife and children by selling small goods and beedis. I'm not Nisargadatta, but I do love his teachings. I also (try to) support myself, using the skills I currently have. Quite honestly, I need to pay some large-ish bills very soon. Homeowner's insurance bill is a down payment of several hundred dollars - due Mar. 1st. Vehicle insurance is a payment of $100. due this month - 2/25/17. I need to get my car into a shop and see why it is smelling of sulphur all the time, and running poorly. New car brakes are needed, too. I would like to start holding small meditation meetings in my home once or twice a week, and to do that I need to do some work on the master bathroom pipes - either jetting them or replacing them. This will cost from $100. at the least to $1K to 2K. at the most. And there are the ongoing monthly bills for utilities, etc. I need to make many, many sales in my etsy store, and I am open to accepting paypal donations payable to paypal.me/SarahNolt

self awareness and a quiet mind...

"A quiet mind is all you need.
All else will happen rightly, once your mind is quiet.
As the sun on rising makes the world active,
so does self-awareness affect changes in the mind.
In the light of calm and steady self-awareness,
inner energies wake up and work miracles
without any effort on your part."
~ Nisargadatta Maharaj

Silence is divine non-intervention...

Silence

Moments of inner quiet will burn out all obstacles,
without fail.
Don't doubt its efficacy.
Try it.
Silence is the main factor.
In peace and silence you grow.
In peace and silence the "I" dissolves,
and the inner and the outer become one.

remember yourself as I AM...

"My advice to you is very simple. Just remember yourself, I AM -
it is enough to heal your mind, and take you beyond. Just have some trust."

time: the primordial illusion...

"This is the primordial illusion:
People think that the world is ancient.
Actually, it rises with your consciousness." -- Nisargadatta Mahārāj

no need to push life about...

"When effort is needed, effort will appear.
When effortlessness becomes essential, it will assert itself.
You need not push life about.
Just flow with it
and give yourself completely
to the task of the present moment…"

conquer your own mind and know, I AM THAT

Q: So many saints and mystics lived and died. They did not change my world.

M: How could they? Your world is not theirs, nor is their yours.

Q: Surely there is a factual world common to all.

M: The world of things, of energy and matter? Even if there were such a common world of things and forces, it is not the world in which we live.

Ours is a world of feelings and ideas, of attractions and repulsions, of scales of values, of motives and incentives, a mental world altogether. Biologically we need very little, our problems are of a different order.

Problems created by desires and fears and wrong ideas can be solved only on the level of the mind. You must conquer your own mind and for this you must go beyond it

you are the perceiving point...

walking the rainbow trail...

“Once you realize that the road is the goal
and that you are always on the road,
not to reach a goal,
but to enjoy its beauty and its wisdom,
life ceases to be a task
and becomes natural and simple,
in itself an ecstasy.”

break the spell and be free. rise...

"The main point to grasp is that you have projected
onto yourself
a world of your own imagination,
based on memories, on desires and fears,
and that you have imprisoned yourself in it.

Break the spell and be free."

~ Nisargadatta Maharaj

witness and celebration as attitude...

"Develop the witness attitude and you will find
in your own experience that detachment brings control.
The state of witnessing is full of power,
there is nothing passive about it."
~ Nisargadatta Maharaj~

"Happiness is one pole, sadness is another.
Blissfulness is one pole, misery is another.
 Life consists of both,
and life is a ritual because of both.
A life only of blissfulness will have extension,
but will not have depth.
A life of only sadness will have depth,
but will not have extension.
A life of both sadness and blissfulness is
multi dimensional; it moves in all dimensions together.
Watch the statue of Buddha or sometimes
ook into my eyes and you will find both together --
a blissfulness, a peace, a sadness also.
You will find a blissfulness which contains in it sadness
also, because that sadness gives it depth.
Watch Buddha's statue -- blissful, but still sad.
The very word 'sad' gives you wrong connotations --
that something is wrong. This is your interpretation.

To me, life in its totality is good.
And when you understand life in its totality,
only then can you celebrate; otherwise not.
Celebration means: whatsoever happens is irrelevant --
I will celebrate. Celebration is not conditional on certain things:
'When I am happy then I will celebrate,' or,
'When I am unhappy I will not celebrate.'
Celebration is unconditional; I celebrate life.
It brings unhappiness -- good, I celebrate it.
It brings happiness -- good, I celebrate it.
Celebration is my attitude,
unconditional to what life brings."

metamorphosis...

"The person merges into the witness,
the witness into awareness,
awareness into pure being,
yet identity is not lost,
only its limitations are lost.
It is transfigured
and, becomes the real Self.
the sadguru
the eternal friend
and guide."

Staying with I AM...

by  Ramana Spencer:
"The mind gets bored with staying with "I Am"...just existing...
Nisargadatta said he stayed with the "I AM",
the feeling of existing for three years.
He stayed there without adding anything to it,
more and more, till it fell back into its Source.

The mind gets bored with staying with "I Am"...just existing...

Here is my prototype practice!
It's a compromise.....
Because, I am is boring to the mind;
Ready?"
