I've been receiving daily email newsletters from Tricycle.com for quite awhile now. Reading them is a great way to start a day by helping to align my thoughts with me innermost heart.

Upcycling...
Today's highlights...a noon lunch at the Multicultural Chinese Buffet with friends, stopping to purchase a few mildew resistant tomato plants (if you live in Florida you know all about mildew, etc.) and sitting in on a team members etsy shop critique in an etsy chat room this evening. Errands in town, and sewing room time will get sandwiched in between.
The brown fabric used in these frames was once upon a time linen table napkins. Not sure yet whether this piece will be a pillow or wall art. Funny I should be working on fall/winter colors now as we're heading into spring but it feels right.

My First Cathedral Windows Ring Bearer Pillow
I've been making all kinds, sizes, and color combinations of Cathedral Windows for about 11 years now and this is my first attempt at a Ring Bearer Pillow. Most of my Cathedral Windows are made with 95% handstitching as is this pillow. I have done some that are machine stitched and find that I much prefer the look and feel of handstitching. For the very center of the yo yo I used a hot pink button that was the extra button in a crocheted sweater I owned years ago....just came across it in a drawer this week and thought it might be time to use it for something, and it was!

"Walk Gently this Lovely Earth!"
People are so amazingly creative...I continue to be inspired and delighted by the ingenuity of the artists and crafters that make up the Etsy community! All of the items featured in this Etsy Treasury are made using supplies that were once upon a time something else. Bravo!
Cathedral Windows Tabletopper in the making...
This tabletopper is going to be a gift for a good friend who has given me bags and bags of her fabric scraps. She gave me dimensions and colorway to work with. And I just bought a piece of pink and green batik fabric yesterday at the Cotton Patch Quilt Shop to round out my previous selections. I will be sure to post another photo upon completion. Happy stitching or creating, whatever your avenue of creative outlet may be!

My Deviation into Modern Quilt Art
"Closures" "Closure"... is not easy for many of us. It's been said that when a door closes another one opens. It's just that we are not always ready for that to occur when it does. Or, sometimes we are and the other person/people are not. Sometimes the closure is smooth sailing - notice the mariners compass tab on the top zipper. And like these zippers, sometimes it feels like the relationships still have threads hanging there - we just don't know, maybe they can be repaired; sometimes it feels like the relationships were cut off, or torn off. However, we do survive and move on to better things, hopefully. For more information see the quilt items section in my online store at http://www.sarahsquiltsncrafts.etsy.com/ |

"All you need is Love" ~ Beatles
No need to smoke anything to realize that Love is all we really need. Many things we want are symbolic of that need...nothing wrong with living a beautiful life surrounded by things we enjoy...just make sure that we are conscious and mindful of what things stand for. One of my favorite books, A Course in Miracles asks this simple and profoundly thought provoking question..."Of everything, ask yourself what is it for?"
Cool and warm...turquoise and brown...Balance!
Cool and warm...turquoise and brown...Balance....something we all need to maintain in this busy and complex world most of us live in today. Create the change in your world that you wish to see around you. This week I read Jill Bolte Taylor's utterly fascinating book entitled "My Stroke of Insight" from cover to cover, in one day. Needing some great tools to help bring about change in your mental terrain? Jill has some really helpful techniques, and there's no need to have a stroke to try them out!
